Hotel Review – Holiday Inn Purdue/Fort Wayne

We recently spent a weekend in Fort Wayne Indiana.  We stayed at the Holiday Inn Purdue-Fort Wayne because it was centrally located to places we would be visiting.  The hotel had a big lobby area that was hopping when we arrived.  Apparently there were several buses of teens there for the night.  I quickly headed up to our room.  It was then that we decided for sure that we would not attempt to have breakfast in the Hotel Restaurant in the morning as it would be packed.

The staff at the front desk were always friendly and helpful.  I especially liked the young lady who was there in the mornings.  She was incredibly cheerful and attentive.  When checking in I was greeted as an IHG Platinum Elite Member and offered my choice of a snack bag or 500 Welcome points.  I chose the points, but appreciated being given the choice.

Our room had all the necessities we needed like a TV, chair and a table with a Keurig coffee maker.  We had two Queen beds that were comfy and soft. I had planned for a King, but because I added an extra night right before coming, we were changed to the two Queens due to availability.  That was totally fine with me.

I wanted to take some medication, so I went to the bathroom seeking a glass for water.  None there.  I checked on the table by the Keurig, there were 2 insulated disposable coffee cups, but no glasses.  Puzzled, I kept looking around the room until I finally found the ice bucket and 2 plastic glasses…..Under the night stand.  Not really the most ideal location for these items, especially since they were at floor level and not easily seen.  Odd.

The bathroom was modern and spacious with plenty of counter space for both of our grooming supplies.  The shower was very clean and in good working order with a nice shower head and plenty of towels and water pressure.

Because we were on a long weekend, we wanted to be able to take advantage of the pool and hot tub.  The hotel website boasts that they have the largest indoor pool in Fort Wayne.   Since the pool area opened at 6:30 am, we opted to make our visit around 7:30 am on Saturday morning while it was still quiet and peaceful.  Thankfully there were 2 towels left for us to dry off with, since they had not tidied up or restocked from the night before.

On a funny note, Mark made a new friend who looked like he was ready to join us in the pool.  The hot tub was large and in good condition, but the jets were a bit weak.  Still we enjoyed a relaxing 15 minute soak in the bubbly hot water before starting the day.

We decided to grab some coffee from the Lobby on the way back up to the room.  We easily found the coffee station, but could not find the cream or sugar to go with our coffee.  After fiddling around a bit, Mark found them in the drawers of the table that the coffee station was on.  Unusual and again, not very obvious.

My Thoughts

We did not take advantage of the onsite Restaurants, because we had other plans.  Therefore,  I cannot report as to their quality.  I generally figure most hotel restaurants are standard quality.

All and all we had a really nice stay.  Despite the fact that there were 2 bus loads of teens staying there on Friday, we didn’t notice a lot of noise on the floors.  Because I am a light sleeper, I set my stay preferences to be far from the elevator which also helps minimize the noise level.  We did not encounter any issues during our stay.  The location was really easy to get to and near many restaurants and stores if we needed anything.  If you were going to the Coliseum in Fort Wayne, it is directly across the Street so this hotel would be an excellent choice.

I would definitely stay here again if I found myself in the Fort Wayne area.

Happy Travels!
