Two Different Ways to Save for Travel on Ibotta

If you read my posts regularly, you have probably heard me talk about the Rebate App, Ibotta.  I use it to scan my grocery receipts in exchange for product Rebates.  You can also use it like you would Ebates for online purchases or even get Rebates for ordering a beer at a restaurant.  It has a lot of features.

I cashed out $100 from Ibotta in the month of January.   It is worth the amount of time I have to invest in it to make that much money.  If you are interested in trying it out, you can use this Referral Link on my Money Saving Links Tab that will give you a $10 bonus after you sign up and use the app.

The Two Ways you can Save for Travel

You can cash out any time that you have at least $20 in Rebates in your account.  The main way of cashing out is through Venmo or Paypal.  I use Venmo and have the money in my bank account withing 48 hours.  It goes right into my travel fund.

A second option is to cash out for Gift Cards.  I usually don’t utilize this option since my goal is to save cash for travel.  However, they sometimes offer bonuses that could make it worth your while to cash out for a Gift Card.  They may give you a bonus Account Credit if you cash out a minimum amount to a particular Gift Card.  Recently, I was looking at the Gift Card options and discovered that in addition to a plethora of Restaurants, you can also get these travel related Gift Cards:

  • Uber – You could use for transportation during a trip
  • Groupon – You could use toward one of their Trips or a Hotel deal
  • Southwest Air – Use for Airfare purchases or Partner offers for car rentals etc on the Southwest Rapid Rewards site
  • Hotels.Com – Use for Hotel reservations

I like the flexibility of cash because I can use it for whatever travel expense I choose.  But it is a nice  to know that you have an option to stock up on some gift cards for Hotels, flights and Uber rides, or give them as gifts!
