Traverse City, Michigan is a Culinary Paradise. We have developed quite a few favorite places to eat over the 20 years that we have been exploring food there. One thing that I like to do each time we go is to mix it up a bit. It get’s boring if you eat at the same 2 or 3 places every time. We usually pick 1 or 2 of our Tried and True Favorites and then try out a few new places that we have never been before.
It’s so much more adventurous that way!
Brasserie Amie – Our Newest Foodie Find!
During our recent trip to Traverse City, some friends of ours suggested we give Brasserie Amie a try for breakfast. After checking out their menu online we decided it looked pretty interesting and it was within walking distance of our hotel. It seemed meant to be, so on that Sunday morning, my husband and I stopped in for brunch.
The restaurant is very chic with chandeliers, replicas of the Eiffel Tower and other French decor. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by their lovely Hostess as well as one of the Owners. Everyone there was so nice, not at all like Paris, lol.
After being shown to a very nice table, we decided to start with cocktails. My hubby ordered a Bellini and I had French Bubbly (Veuve Ambal Brute) from Burgandy. We were off to a good start!
Their Brunch Menu is extensive. Mark ordered the Quiche Lorraine and some Beignets for dessert and I decided on the Crabe Benedict. We expected small portions, which is common at upscale restaurants. But that was not the case here at all. Mark’s slice of quiche was sizeable and it came with a large green salad on the side. One look at my plate and I knew I would never be able to finish it all. The Crabe Benedict consisted of an open faced English muffin topped with thick slabs of Canadian bacon, and poached eggs nestled in a choron sauce*, with a whole breaded and fried soft shell blue crab draped across the top. It was heavenly! We ended up taking the fresh made beignets to go because we were both stuffed, and they were still delicious later.
*Choron is a variation of Béarnaise Sauce, usually with tomato paste added.
I would say that Brasserie Amie was our best Foodie Finds on this trip. I would totally recommend it. I know that we will certainly be going back to further explore their menu on one of our next trips.

- Little Fleet Food Truck Lot – Great Food Truck Selection with Cocktails and Seating Available.
- Hop Lot Brewing Co – Anything BBQ or the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich to go with your Beer.
- Farm Club – Beautifully Prepared Farm to Table Local Foods and Delightful Charcuterie Boards.
- Cherry Republic Public House, Glen Arbor – Fave Lunch Spot. Have a Cherry Soda and Save Room for Cherry Ice Cream.
- Shorts Brewing Company, Bellaire – Best Apps and Great Sandwiches to go with their Amazing Beer.
