The Nantucket Inn: Hotel Review

If you are planning a trip to Nantucket, you will discover that there are no chain hotels located on the island. There are several wonderful local properties to choose from. During the high season, which runs from June to August, these hotels can be expensive.

My daughter and I needed to book a hotel for one night while making a quick stay on the island in June. Some hotels like The White Elephant, The Nantucket Hotel & Resort, and the Wauwinet were running over $1,000 per night…on a Monday! Yikes!

The Nantucket Inn

After conducting more research, I discovered the Nantucket Inn. It is not located in town or near the beaches. Instead, it is a quick walk across the street from the Nantucket Airport. The hotel offers a shuttle that takes guests into town on a regular schedule. This was perfect since we would be flying in and would not have a car.

The base price for the Nantucket Inn was still listed at over $500 on their site for the night we needed to book. Because I had a $150 hotel credit available on my Delta Platinum card, I checked the rate through Delta Stays. I snagged a 2 Queen room for $501.65 and received the $150 statement credit just a few days later. That meant my out-of-pocket was just $351.65.

Hotel Location

Arriving

We landed at 2:40 and made the quick walk across the street to the Nantucket Inn. Although check-in was not until 4:00 p.m., our room was ready. We were able to drop off our bags, freshen up, and jump on the 3:00 shuttle into town. The complimentary shuttle departs from the hotel on the hour and returns from town at 15 past the hour until 11:15 at night.

The Hotel

The hotel was bright, open, and spotlessly clean. The interior has a charming coastal decor, while the exterior has the typical weathered grey shingle siding you see everywhere on Nantucket. You can easily access the Noba bar (opens at 3 p.m.) and the NobaDeer cafe from the open concept Lobby.

Since our stay on Nantucket was short, we didn’t have time to enjoy the hotel’s inviting pool. I took the picture below from the Cafe, which has a floor-to-ceiling window into the pool area. Very cool. We did find time to enjoy drinks and snacks from the NobaDeer Cafe and the NobaBar. Both had good options at fair prices.

Let me take a minute to say that the staff at this hotel were phenomenal. Everyone we came in contact with was genuinely cheerful, kind, and incredibly helpful. I can’t remember the last time that I stayed at a hotel when I felt so welcome and cared for.

The Room

To get from our room to the lobby, we needed to exit the main building and follow the path through the gorgeous gardens. The covered walkway was also nice since we experienced a fair bit of rain while we were there.

Our room was just right. The white shiplap wall covering and simple grey decor carried over the coastal vibes of the hotel. The room was spotlessly clean and everything was in working order. We had 2 comfy queen-sized beds with ample pillows and a cozy chair near the windows, perfect for reading. The space was utilized efficiently and included a Keurig coffee maker, a refrigerator, a small chest of drawers, and a double closet with a safe.

There was an extra sink and mirror just outside the bathroom, which was great for 2 ladies traveling together. One person could be showering while the other was brushing their teeth, or doing their hair and makeup. We had plenty of fluffy towels and C.O. Bigelow bath amenities. Everything was just right.

Oh No! Now What?

Due to flight delays and cancellations, our trip to Nantucket did not go quite as planned. The staff at The Nantucket Inn were great while we camped out in the Lobby (even though we had already checked out), figuring out new flights. Everyone was so understanding. We remained in the Lobby until it was time to return to the airport for our new flight. Sadly, it ended up being cancelled too.

Now we were in a pickle because we had a hotel booked in Washington, D.C. for the night, but couldn’t get off the island due to heavy fog. While I worked on yet another flight plan with the Gate Agent at the airport, my daughter called the hotel to secure a room for the night. They told her there was only one room left at the $500 rate. Thank goodness, Franz held the room for us until we returned from the airport.

Final Thoughts

We had a great stay (or two) at The Nantucket Inn. Although some other hotels on the island are closer to town or the beaches, I would choose to stay here again. The hotel was affordable, well-appointed, and the staff were so friendly and attentive.

This was an absolutely wonderful five-star stay!
